3 AI prompts your competitors don't want you to know
Copy-paste prompts for follow-ups, summaries, and discovery calls
Hey there,
Most sales reps are still doing grunt work that AI could knock out in seconds.
While you're spending hours writing follow-ups and call summaries, smart reps like Brian LaManna (Enterprise AE at Gong and author of the ClosedWon newsletter) have already automated them without losing his personal touch.
The result? While everyone else drowns in busywork, he's actually selling.
Today's Community Systems Spotlight breaks down Brian's 3 favorite prompts:
His follow-up email prompt that writes itself
Call summary framework organized by person
The challenging POV question generator for better discovery
Time to steal his playbook.
3 Copy-Paste AI Prompts From Brian LaManna To Reclaim 10+ Hours Per Week
Just copy-paste the below prompts into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or your preferred AI tool:
Prompt #1: The Follow-Up Email Generator
I’m going to provide transcripts of sales calls. Take it and break it out into key points that reference pain points, metrics, goals, etc. most from the customer side and then the exact next steps outlined. Never use more than 4 bullet points under key points or next steps. Always put “Next Steps” and “Key Points” in bold formatting.
Use the following format:
Subject: [Company Name] x [Client Name] - Recap, Next Steps
Hi [Recipient’s Name],
It was great connecting with you earlier!
Key Points:
-Goal to grow from 240 to 325 customers by EOY
-Critical need to capture all conversations to improve team and deal execution
-Focus areas: playbook, soft closing, driving next steps, etc.
-Fireflies noted as too intrusive and visible during meetings, causing customer concerns
Next Steps:
-Demo with you and Christian scheduled for next Wednesday at 3:30 PM EST
Let me know if you have any questions ahead of the demo!
Best,
[Your Name]

Prompt #2: The Person-by-Person Call Breakdown
"Please break out call notes by person. Have a section for each person externally. Only the external side. Don't include me. Make them extensive but fairly concise. no headers, just straight down bullet points. Specifically focus on pain points, challenges, metrics, technology stack, as well as any other important pieces of information shared.
Also, include one direct quote from each person on what they loved the most or a powerful testimonial of their advocacy/where they saw value. If there is not a good enough quote, do not make one up or force it. You can include two quotes if there are multiple powerful statements but usually do one.
Always include the date of the call at the top too, in small print."

Prompt #3: The Challenging POV Creator
I want to start calls with some friction and a challenging point of view about their business and challenges. I'm going to feed you the situation and then I want you to return 3 options of really strong questions I can lead with, to challenge them off the bat, in a respectful way.
These are 2 great examples, if I gave a situation around a customer who cared about customer centricity but had no way to capture customer facing conversations or insights.
"You've mentioned customer centricity is your top priority, yet there's no system in place to capture or analyze customer conversations. How do you reconcile this fundamental gap between your stated mission and your operational reality?"
"I'm curious - what specific customer insights are informing your strategic decisions today, given that you don't currently capture or analyze customer conversations? What's your level of confidence in those decisions?"
"Many organizations claim customer centricity while operating primarily on assumptions rather than actual customer data. Without analyzing customer conversations, what evidence convinces you that you truly understand your customers' needs better than your competitors do?"
[INPUT YOUR SITUATION]
